When I first heard "here" about the U.N. membership and thier excuse of it only to use the library, the first thing that came to my mind was that if I got a membership card to the YMCA to use the pool I would be disfellowshiped. Any guilt I ever had was gone. How dare they

UN Library Card Excuse.
by Englishman ina coupie of nights ago, i was sat watching an old video-clip of the village people singing "ymca"on tv.
the thought occured to me that the wt most likely have a down on the ymca (they have a down on most things), so i searched ymca on my wt library cd.. well, that was interesting all right.
however, one part of the article reminded me of brooklyns excuse for being party to the un as an ngo.

I got bit at around 7 or 8. We were "In Service" walking down the street and the lady and her beagle were standing by the sidewalk in her yard. When we got close the dog started growling. I was a little leary passing them. The lady bent down to the dog to calm him saying "he's okay, he won't bite." CHOMP! He bit my leg. I remember sitting on the ladies toilet as she was cleaning up the wound. I can't remember if my Granny witnessed to her or not.
Around the same time I got bit on the wrist by a neighbours Colley who did not want a dress put on her. I thought she might like it. Wrong! I had to go to the hospital for that one. I have a healthy respect for dogs now.

1 pool party, 1 party in the park, 2 pizza/roller skating partys, 1 snowmobile party and 1 treasure hunt. I remember them fondly. That was 18 years of growing up a JW kid.
Shhhh! This is a secret..........When I was 8 my Aunt was taking care of me when my Granny was gone out of the country. I got an invitation to my best friends BIRTHDAY party and my Aunt let me go. I felt like I belonged for once and I had so much fun. We never did tell Granny and 40 years later I still let my Aunt know how much that one thing ment to me.

I believe one hour could have saved thousands of lives, they should have warned them and given them a chance.
But........
On the other hand if that 200,000 people were alive they would be crammed into the same shanty towns with no food, no clean water and little shelter. Would they have died anyway from disease and starvation? Children, elderly and weak are always the most susceptible in any disaster. The damage to the land and property would still be the same if there was warning or not, would they survive what is bound to get much worse before it gets better? Would they only have traded places with someone else?
In the end I think it does'nt matter if they sent out a warning or not, they need help and lots of it.

The reason why the deceased are buried facing east.
by Schizm inif you click on the link below what you'll see is an aerial view of the llano cemetery, located in amarillo, texas -- the place where i'll probably be buried.
the gravestones can actually be seen.
they are the white specks, all layed out in rows.

Welcome to the board all_forgiving, glad to have you here.
I agree 100% with what you say. It is a time to remind all humans what they can do if they choose to and they have chosen to do good from bad.
My heart goes out to all people touched by this tragedy. I can't even comprehend the pain and suffering anymore.

Sexual Harassment
by LittleToe ini thought i'd pose a question especially (but not exclusively) for the girls regarding sexual harassment.
what would you deem as unfitting behaviour?.
is it appropriate for a guy to ask if you are wearing any panties?
-

Drunk or not, it is never ok to look under ones skirt/kilt without permission. It is an invasion of privacy. If it continued after repeated attempts to get them to stop....it goes beyond harassment.

The Book of Revelation
by under74 inokay, if anyone's seen my last post i'm doing a research paper on adventist groups.
right now i'm reading revelation since it's a big thing amongst adventists.
my own conclusion is that revelation had to do with the time it was written in.

There was a good show on the history channel a couple days ago talking about Revelations and Armageddon.
I fell asleep before seeing it all tho. They were saying it was letters written in code to the christians in Rome. It was against the law what he was saying and had to be hidden. The guy that wrote it (John? Peter? Paul?) was imprisoned and knew that the early christians would know what the symbols ment, he was talking about the Roman Government and the things that were taking place at that time. Wish I would have stayed awake.

Pulled at my heart strings
by Purza inso on christmas day we were staying with my fiancee's parents.
my fiancee was not feeling well and i offered to go to 7-eleven to get him some pepto (this was about 8:30 a.m.) this older man (probably in his 70s) asked me if they had any milk that was less than a gallon container.
i said that i didn't work there, but i went over and found a half gallon for him.

Purza, That is sooooooooooooo sad at this time of year especially it made me cry.
He sounds like he needs and wants to talk about her. He is probably in shock. I hope his daughter will help him thru this or he may be close behind her. Men tend not to go to bereavement groups or anything.
